Good afternoon,
I hope that you and your family are well. I am sure that all our students are looking forward to a well-earned break over the Easter period, and I hope you will all find the opportunity to spend time together as families.
Year 11 Parent Meetings
Thank you to those Year 11 students and their families who attended yesterday’s parent meetings in school. This year chose to focus our teachers’ time on those students who need an extra boost from revision as we rapidly approach exam season. Of course, all our Year 11 students will need to engage in some intensive revision over the coming weeks and months, and will have been provided with ample revision materials by their teachers.
Year 8 Football Success
Last Tuesday evening, the Y8 football team travelled to Yewlands in their final 11-a-side fixture of the year. They needed a comprehensive win to have any chance of finishing top of their Spring League. The students conducted themselves in a very professional manner, played well together and put on a performance for all watching. The students started strongly but couldn’t seem to find the net in the first half. A few worrying moments passing back to the keeper into the wind and long grass had Mr Francis biting his nails in some tricky situations. However, after the half-time talk the students came out revitalised and raring to go. Students played extremely well, worked the ball around the pitch and came away with 6 excellent goals…one from a free-kick on the halfway line! Well done to goalscorers Lucas, Max, Rio, Fin, Ethan and Nathan.
School Choir and Singing Lessons
A further reminder that our growing school choir meets to rehearse every Monday after school. Students in the choir can also access free singing lessons. Any students interested in attending should speak to Mr Hydes in the music department.
Arbor App Development
Last half term’s attitude to learning reports are now available in the Arbor parent app. These show as report cards. We are currently in the process of collecting the latest AtL data and once published, this too will appear as a report card in the app. We greatly appreciate your patience around the publication of AtL reports in the new system. Please do ensure that you have the Arbor app or access to the Arbor parent portal so that you are able to view this and other key information such as attendance, achievement points and behaviour points.
Return to School after Easter
A reminder to all families that we return to school on Monday 15th April following the Easter break. Please could families take the opportunity to ensure all students have full uniform ready for the return. There is a trend amongst some of our older girls in particular to wear leggings to school. Leggings are not part of our school uniform and students seen arriving in leggings will be asked to change into the correct uniform before beginning their school day.
Thank you for your excellent ongoing support. Wishing all our families are very happy and healthy Easter break.
