Good afternoon,

I hope that you and your family are well. We have now reached the most important time of the year for our Year 11 students – exams began for some students on Wednesday of this week and become much more frequent next week, with important exams taking place almost every day for the next four weeks.

BEHAVIOUR OF ALL STUDENTS DURING THE EXAM PERIOD

We are very proud of how the vast majority of our students conduct themselves throughout the school year – and exceptional behaviour is never more important than during exam periods. We know our Year 11 students will be very positive and respectful of one-another in exams. We will also be asking our students in Years 7 to 10 to show the same level of respect, and ensure that they move around the building with extra care and courtesy during the exam period to ensure students working hard in exams are never disturbed. The majority of students will sit their exams in the main hall, but some students may sit them in classrooms. Please reinforce to your child the importance of showing this level of support and respect to Year 11 students at this important time.

YEAR 10 WORK EXPERIENCE FEEDBACK

The feedback we are receiving from employers about the application and character of our Year 10 students who have been on work experience has been overwhelming! Teachers and other Westfield staff have been to visit almost all students on their placements, and many employers have fed back that they wish our students could stay longer. We look forward to welcoming our Year 10s back into school next week and finding out more about their experiences of the world of work.

DUKE OF EDINBURGH AWARD

Congratulations to our Duke of Edinburgh Award students who successfully navigated their practice expedition last weekend. The students camped overnight before taking on an 11-mile walk in the Peak District (for some who got lost it ended up being a bit further!). We are very proud of these students and so happy to be able to create experiences such as these.

With many thanks for your ongoing excellent support,

Joe Birkbeck
