Good afternoon,
I hope that you and your family are well.
YEAR 7 E-SAFETY AND DIVERSITY PRESENTATIONS
Today South Yorkshire Police delivered a presentation to all our Year 7 students about staying safe and keeping themselves safe online. The presentation covered social networking and protecting yourself and your devices. Our fantastic Year 7 students engaged exceptionally well and asked lots of relevant questions.
The presentation was followed by an assembly planned by older Westfield students about our school's diverse community - highlighting that Westfield is an inclusive school. This was very well received by Year 7 who recognised the importance that everyone is unique in their own way and embraced the message that we should be proud of who we are.
YEAR 8 HISTORY TRIP
We are excited to announce that all students in Year 8 have been invited by the history department to join them on a trip to Sheffield's Showroom Cinema to watch the film Harriet in the final week of this term. Harriet is about the life of Harriet Tubman, a slave from the southern states of America who managed to complete a journey of over an hundred miles to reach the free north. She then risked her life to return and lead many more slaves to freedom. Year 8 students are currently studying a unit of work on the Slave Trade. Parents/carers of Year 8 students will be sent further information by Mrs Hunter, our Subject Leader for history.
FLU VACCINATIONS FEEDBACK
Our colleagues from the NHS who came into school on Monday and Tuesday of this week again commented on how polite, co-operative and friendly our students were when they received their vaccines. We are so proud that visitors to school form such positive opinions of our students!
YEAR 11 MOCK EXAM FEEDBACK
Teachers of Year 11 continue to work hard to mark the mock exam papers that students sat last week, and students have begun to receive feedback from their teachers. Parents/carers of Year 11 students will receive a report detailing their child's performance in mock exams before Christmas, and will be able to discuss their child's progress with teachers in January at the first Year 11 parents' evening.
With many thanks for your continued excellent support.
